How to Delete Labels in Gmail on Android Phone

There is no official way to delete Labels using Gmail app on an android phone, But there is a workaround. In this post, I will tell you how to delete labels in Gmail.
Follow these simple steps to delete labels on Android –

Open Chrome Browser on your Android phone

Tap on the Chrome browser of your android phone.

Select on the Kebab Menu

Choose the kebab menu (3 dots) on the top right corner as shown in the image.

Select Desktop site option

Select desktop site option

Choose the “Desktop site” option to see the desktop version of web pages.

Open Gmail.Google.com and sign-in

Open https://gmail.google.com and sign in with your Gmail account and password.

Select “use the Web version option”

Select “Use the web version” as shown in the image to open Gmail in the web version. Don’t select the “Open The GMAIL App” option because you can’t delete labels from the Gmail app.

Select the three parallel lines (Hamburger menu) from the top left.

Scroll to the last and select the Desktop option

Scroll to the bottom of the menu and choose View Gmail in the “Desktop” option

Select the “Take me to the latest Gmail” option

You will get two options on this screen –
A. Take me to the latest Gmail – You can select it if you are using the latest Chrome browser and don’t have an internet speed issue.
B. I would like to use HTML Gmail – In case you have a legacy browser or your internet connection is slow. Select “I would like to use HTML Gmail” as it is made for slower connections and legacy browsers. It will take you to the old version of the Gmail application.

For OptionA Users – Expand the “more” button and select the “Manage labels”

If you have selected option A (Take me to the latest Gmail) in the last step, follow these steps, otherwise, skip to OptionB users steps.

On the left side pane – Expand More > scroll down to the bottom of Menu > select the “Manage Labels” option.

Remove or delete your unwanted label in Gmail

On the settings page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for the labels section.
Look for the unwanted label and choose “remove” in the Actions to delete the label.
For example, I am deleting the test label as shown in the image.
Congrats! you have successfully deleted the unwanted label in Gmail. If you have selected option B, then keep reading.

For Option B Users – Select the “Edit labels” in the Labels section

If you have selected option B “HTML Gmail”, then you will see a legacy Gmail inbox on our android mobile.
1. Scroll to the bottom and select “Labels” in the left side menu.
2. Select the “Edit Labels” option as shown in the image.

Choose the remove button against unwanted labels. For example, I will delete the test label by selecting the remove button mentioned against it.
